Why balanced?

I don't know much about electronics.
But if i'm not mistaken the aleph amps are class A single ended designs.
Why should the preamp or the AXO be balanced?
Is there a real advantage there?
I have no experience with balanced designs, i have never used one in my system.
What are the sonic benefits of balanced operation?

Thanks,

Nick

Some information, on what appears to be the Claw jr, extracted from the XVR1 ELECTRONIC CROSSOVER NETWORK OWNERS MANUAL:

Real Project #2
"This is a much more complex system. It has twin 21 inch subwoofers mounted in a 12 foot long transmission line, a 12 inch woofer for midbass, a 5 inch midrange, and a ribbon tweeter. This system will be quad-amped."

"And there we have it, a quad-amped loudspeaker with a response +-5 dB from about 18 Hz to 40,000 Hz."

 Wow! My appartment does not even have a ceiling 12' high :(

A great manual by the way - highly informative about crossovers - a must read! A big thanks yet again to 'the one and only' for making all this information freely available.

balanced line stage and...

I have NEVER done any electronic project in my life, meaning i have never drawn on a copperplate etc etc...

(i am 45)

i did finish the balanced line stage and found it quite relaxing!
i managed to finish the whole thing included the powersupply etc.etc.
Then i thought i would tackle the amplifier SOZ . it seems hard for me to find the right resistors without having to buy them at digi key. ( they weem a bit expensive)

do you guys have any experience in this or should i go for a 'more to do amplifier ...... ?

Thanks

Since you ask, I would be happy to do a 1+ KW class AB
monster, just the kind that Kilowatt is always talking about,
but with circuitry simple enough not to frighten you big macho
guys.

Who wants to compete with Son of Dork on something
like this?

;)

Now you've got me interested. Where do I find info about your monster? Have you published anything or is it just in your head?

Monsters! Monsters from the id!

"My evil self is at the door, and I have no power to stop it."

"Yes, a single machine, a cube 20 miles on each side."

Do you understand the mechanism, Robby?
Robby: Yes, Morbius. A simple blaster.

Can you make it a bit smaller? But simple blaster would be cool!

H.H.

One of my favorites I have on DVD and even I missed your joke
