While waiting for my chassis to arrive just keep entertaining myself with different thought. I do not know much about transformers, but I see that there are transformers 5x time the price of the edcore, do they bring some improvements? This: https://www.jensen-transformers.com/...Data-Sheet.pdf
Or it is a wrong one? |

Jensen is used in F6 for example.
For the Edcor, do I remember wrongly, it obviously won the listening tests when used in M2 circuit ; ), so it´s not only about specs... |

Nelson talks about the transformer choice at BAF, not sure what year exactly, but I watch them all once again from time to time.

just to remind you that Edcor 600:15K used in pure galvanic isolation mode
if looking for any other xformer, take care of choosing xformer with same nominal impedances

FYI, It seems we do also have "prototype"/earlier revision (at least 1 pair) input boards over in the building thread.

Fortunately not an issue. The R7 ground to chassis is redundant to the 5 ohm
power thermistor to chassis. |

Nelson, I didn't intend to sound "cocky", I just wanted you to be able to intervene before hell breaks loose....

Big thanks to Nelson Pass for this gift of a project. I also really enjoy certain contributors to this thread for their entertaining literary comments. From the ongoing “Does it drive F4?” to “Audio Nervosa” (NP), “Greedy Boys” (ZM) and especially Mark Johnson’s deliciously wicked musings. Cadmium Yellow! I’m chuckling even though I read that days ago. Sort of like burping an hour after an epic meal, the feint aroma and taste allow you to relive it.
On to the reason for my post. This greedy-boy, who suffers from audio nervosa was wondering what the minimum voltage rating is for C2 (the DC blocking cap between jFets and Ecdor) on the Front End? I’d like to use a Silmic II there. Second, compared to the schematic on pg5 of the article, the pcb has switched the positions of R1 and C1. If C1 blocks incoming DC, is R5 (“bleeds DC to prevent thumps”) needed?

16V will do
in fact, no - you need 100V there send all useless caps with lesser voltage to OPLDF ![]()
