Pico's Toxic Masculinity Chassis 4U x 500mm - Who is interested?

Just been speaking with Gianluca (Modushop) about doing a 4U 500mm Chassis.

For those who want to pay by PayPal or Credit Card simply choose "bank transfer" as payment method then send the money to webmaster@modu.it

Please make sure you choose the option "send money to friend or family member". The reason we are doing this is PayPal charges us a very high amount for, especially if the money comes from outside the EU.

Thanks for your understanding and your cooperation.

Back Panel

The IEC cutout on the back panel is compatible with either filtered or non-filtered Schurter power entry modules - Series 6765, FKI, FKH, FKID, FKHD should all fit.

If you're purchasing the Cardas Back Panel then you need to order these parts:

CARDAS PARTS SUPPLIED BY SONICRAFT

Binding posts

Cardas CCGR S Binding Post, Sonic Craft

RCAs SHORT VERSION

Cardas GRFA S RCA, Sonic Craft

RCAs LONG VERSION

Cardas GRFA L RCA, Sonic Craft

XLRs

Cardas CM F XLR Chassis XLR, Sonic Craft

Alternatively you could use Neutrik XLR jacks.

Shorting Pins For XLR's - OPTIONAL

Cardas CGSP, Sonic Craft

If you want to use other RCAs and Binding Posts then choose the back panel with pilot holes.
The XLR cutout is compatible with either Neutrik or Cardas this is common on both back panels

So far the list is:

Blk Dynamite x 2
Savu x 2
Mr Dewk x 2

4U 500mm is a good idea. Makes more sense then a 5U 400mm.
How ever, this can also be done today if you wish. By ordering the part seperat.
1pc 4U frontpanel
1pc 4U rearpanel
4pc vibrationfeets
1 set of bolts and nuts
2pc 500mm top/bottom panels
2pc 4U 300mm sinks
2pc 4U 200mm sinks
4pc 500mm L brackets (those are not listed as spare parts tho).
Some modification to the L brackets would be required. Since there is 2 different sinks there should be a aluminium heatspreader between the sinks and the output devices.

The depht is only a problem with the 250mm depth. The sinks are the same as for standard dissipante so 200mm, 300mm and 400mm sinks already exist in 4U hight.
So if they do a 4U mini dissipante in 250mm depth, then the 4U500mm dissipante is solved too :) (parts wise i meen). Also. 3U500mm should be peace of cake as modushop already have all the parts needed. 3U250mm sinks they already got for the mini dissipante.

Not everyone wants to do L brackets, and a symmetrical split will be better.

We will get it at a better price if we get 4 people interested compared with just throwing bits and pieces together

How are heat sinks arranged compared to 5U? I always thought three sinks instead of two like the 5U would be great, 12 outputs per side, 4 per sink. My giant BA3 amp could be realized in a nice package.

I am provisionally "in" on this...two bigger than 5U would be good too, 6 outputs on each.

I was thinking 5U was 400 deep.

Yeah the standard diyaudio 5U chassis is 400mm

The biggest case Modushop does is 5U x 500mm but it doesn't have the predrilled and tapped holes.

They don't currently do 4U x 500mm. Having built cases for 12 years now, I feel 4U x 500mm is the most optimal size.
Actually I have been building 150mm x 500mm so 4U would be a slight upgrade.
