Higher VA
Better regulation (less voltage sag under load)
Less radiated heat

More Capacitors for better powersupply smoothing (less ripple voltage)
Lower Output impedance
Lower Output impedance at low frequencies eg 20Hz

Both is good.

I feel loading a transformer at 1/3 it's rating or lower is nice, at 1/2 rating it starts getting quite warm, above half rating is not generally recommended at all. We're fighting a battle of the heat wars. The less radiated heat inside your chassis the better.
