This really is not enough to keep you busy?
We should just explore from a hundreds or thousand ways permutation how to get rid of heat.
Leave that signature heat sink design to FW customers, or just buy the original?

Its about design with similar heat transfer and esthetics for greedy boyz, but recognizably different not to be usable by unauthorized cloners. Those do not look different enough to original FW fin pattern?

We could go even more distinct by replacing all the secondary fins with a 6th primary fin and going to a taller profile -- which might also allow the use of Modushop 4U fronts & backs.

Jeff, do you have bolt spacing for the 4U? But taller means more expensive and less interest for group buy.

Yes, I think that the second is perfect but the problem is, more complicated = more hours of machining= more expensive.

There's something to like about the simplicity of that last one.

The Modushop drawings don't include the mounting holes for the back, so I'm not sure what the spacing is. It also occurred to me that the Modushop front panels are attached from the back rather than drilled-through and counter-sunk, so maybe there's no advantage to be gained there anyway....

Jeff which mounting holes are you refering to? Let me know if I can be of any help.


And yes, all our 10mm front panels are attached from the back

@Gianluca, we're looking for the vertical spacing of the 4 holes for the cap screws that attach the backplate to the chassis so that we could possibly space the little 'C's in indra1's heatsink profile in post #48 to match them.
