PL and FW work through established distribution worldwide. Distributors
have been tolerant of DIY efforts to date, but have made it clear that
they don't like PL and FW stuff as kits or public schematics.
This is partly because of cloners and partly because it reduces the
appeal of commercial product as they see it.
Also, complete technical information gives the competition something to
badmouth, and/or copy...
Not to mention there is very little money and lots of support in selling kits.
On the upside -
I like doing DIY. It gives me a great outlet for creative efforts that don't
fit my commercial agenda.

Let's not go all Oliver Twist now. While it's very nice for Nelson to share, it's not completely a one way street now is it? This forum provides a huge source of free brainstorming, idea generation, etc. It's like Scot Adam's and Dilbert. Everyone emails him stupid real life work stories and he has a limitless supply of fodder for his strip. No different.
I disagree. Very different than Scott Adams / Dilbert.
Nelson is, for free, teaching people how to make amplifiers as he makes them. In addition, he answers technical questions posed by people who are learning how to make amplifiers as he makes them. The value of this flow of information is enormous in my opinion.
I think that there is very little that flows in the opposite direction that he uses to earn money. I would venture to say maybe zero.
Just my opinion. It is worth exactly what is paid for it. Maybe less.
It's hard to say what triggers innovation. Having access to brainstorming and idea-bouncing with a huge, free group of technicians/customer at various levels of expertise would certainly be an asset for any company. Just saying.

Yes, the answer that Nelson gave was in fact fair and reasonable. Thanks for that. The rest of the minions that chimed in on the otherhand need to MYOFB.
