Can someone here say whether or not moving the transformer farther away from the boards in this amp would improve performance? TIA

It is likely to lower the noise. Most who are trying to achieve
that would move the transformer right out of the chassis.

Hi Nelson. Iyo, is this a worthwhile exercise? Would I likely hear a difference?


So that must be why the early Meridian 105 monos were so good... separate chassis for amp/psu.


I'm now sorry I sold an Acoustat TNT120. No separate psu but so quiet(in hindsight)... I think, that it kept me on the edge of my seat. It was unnerving. It made me think information was missing in the signal. Infinite depth perspective.

If I was to move the transformer out of an F5T chassis, would the entire power supply with RC filters move also? Or just transformer and diodes with 1/2 total RC filter, with the other 1/2 of RC filter in the amp chassis?
