ZM thanks. I’ll just say “conservatively rated at 100wpc”. ;)

Started the day building the twin. Much easier copying #1 so left it open on the table and set up another table for #2. They are mirror image so little differences.

Bolted the heatsinks back on #1, carried into the living room, and plugged it up. No issues, sounds fantastic! Checking temps as I’m typing.

Noticeable difference in quality of sound compared to my F5 Turbo v3’s. More finesse, cleaner, dynamic.

Really like the red “eye”, just a nice reminder it’s powered up since all the rest of my gear is behind doors.

No breeze tonight, shooting the laser thermometer on my speaker cabinet for a reference shows 24.7 Celsius, shooting at the middle heatsink bolt head shows 48.8 Celsius. This is after 40 mins of running. Looks like I’m pushing it!

I’ll keep an eye on it, might need to back it down a smidge.

ZM, thanks for your seal of approval!!!

Blk Dynamite, thank for the compliment!

Dennis Hui, thanks for your input! I ran it all day today, paired with one F5 while I worked on its twin. Max temp hit 51.3 Celsius today. I think I’ll leave it for now.

Just like #1 I test each step as I go to make sure each step works. Hooked up the soft start board and all connections to the back panel. Using a 9v battery checked out the power on relay, soft start board and LED indicator.

That was successful, then connected the transformer, capacitors, and power supply boards.

That was successful, getting proper voltage.

Then went on to the 12v system with the timed delay, kicks in the bypass relays for the MS35’s and runs the exhaust fan. This was not successful. Looks like the Amperite time delay relay failed. I’m thinking this may have been kaput for a while, seems like I did’t hear the relays engaging for a while, just thought that I couldn’t hear that side. Another on order.

tell us more about that pile of speaker chassis laying around ....
Well..... Since you said my Ekta Grande’s are sissies I figured I would build a Manly set of speakers.

Ok, not the only reason ;)

I’m building a set of speakers that are 330 ltr, 18” woofer, 10” midrange, compression driver/horn for high frequency, and a super tweeter. It’s a design by Troels here, The-Loudspeaker. I have all the drivers, crossover components, and Hypex Fusion 500w plate amps to run woofers. Finalizing cabinet design for CNC now, first draft;

Compared to my Ekta’s. Final height will be a smidge taller than Ekta’s, after skirt/casters. I’m posting about the build here, https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/mul...8-10-cd-horn-super-tweeter-5.html#post5660946

well , never said that EG is sissy ....... maybe I said (and I'm sure in that) - they're just not from same Fairytale with A class amps of lower or bigger power

you have plenty of power , but ....... still not same Fairytale

Thanks ZM for the clarification. Was just ribbing you. I see you appear to be a fan of open baffles? What is Fairytale speaker in your world?

The timing relay arrived yesterday and I finished the last of the wiring. No isssues on startup. Performed as the first. Here are the measurements for both amps. This one had a little larger swing between Mosfets in use than the first amp.

For final setting of both amps I set the average measurements to 540mv. So final numbers for each amp might be a couple points different.

Still within reason? Should I look at finding a better match for the 2 marked?

After buttoning it up I put it back in service. Listed for an hour or so, today was a little cooler so temps maxed out at around 47 degrees Celsius.

Sounds fantastic! Seems like I can hear a little benefit from the changes, need some more listening time to critique! No hums, pops or other unwanted sounds from startup to power off. Fantastic!

If only my amp builds were nearly as closely matched :)

these are truly works of art , with clear attention to all levels of detail . I am sure that they will serve you well for many years to come ( unless you are like everyone else on this forum who hops from one project to the next ;) )

dB... Thanks so much for the compliments!

I’m really happy with how they turned out. This is the first amp that I built with a power on indicator, really like that, I like the size, shape and overall appearance, and probably crazy, but even though I could have used solid state (silent) relays to drop out the slow charge circuit I like hearing the magnetic relays click on/off.

Oh yea, and of course, the sound is fantastic!!!

Thanks again ZM for all your help.

I still have about 24 pairs of Sony Vfets to build something with...........

Been listening to the amps and my new speakers now for a few months. Everything sounding fantastic!

Amps are running without any issues. The solid state relays for powering on/off via the trigger from the McIntosh is really convenient. One click on the Logitech remote and everything powers up/down.

The new speakers each have an internal 500wpc Hypex to power the 18” and each Babelfish powers a 10” mid, compression driver/horn, and super tweeter.

We just moved from the house to a condo in Hawaii Kai. At the house (living room 25’ x 30’), to set the volume limits, I ran the volume up till the Hypex started blinking red, measured 111 decibels. Here at the condo a smaller living room (14’ x 16’), never tax the system here. Combo still full and dynamic at really low volume too.

Condo is nice, great view and Central AC. No worries about amp temps.

The bypass caps ZenMod recommended are on hand and need to be installed.

But right now enjoying the dynamic, effortless presentation! Thanks ZM!

Here are a couple pics of the latest setup.

yup , motor-run caps

bypass "just" each final cap in supply , so one per rail

on this side of Big Splash , I'm using either Icar or Ducati caps , in plastic case, they're of awesome quality

Settling in after the move and finally taking time to add the bypass caps.

Bought the Ducati caps.

I’m using the DIYAudio Store power supply boards, so just soldered in to the output pads. Best place?
