Pa had perfect reason to use (those sissy ones not usually potent enough for gain use) JFets for J2 LTP CCS - he could say that amp is fully JFet, and that is of some meaning thinking of Marketing

Common Greedy Boy can perfectly make that CCS with ring of two bjts, and have even better sleep, knowing that that CCS is better than simple JFet one, while saving precious JFets for something else

I like Papa, but main thing he taught me is to not following blindly

I have received some curves of "fake" 2SK170/2SJ74 from Watanabetomoaki
that he measured, comparing them to the real thing.

The interesting thing was that they looked a lot like the J113 and J176
parts...

Of course Watanabetomoaki sells the real thing.

I'm not really good in electronic, but does it mean that we can use J113 and a 100R in source resistor instead of K170 in every Pass electronic ? meaning phono (pearl I and 2) and buffer (B1 and Korg)

A J113, as used by Nelson, with a source resistor is much simpler, and it is still fully JFET.
Also costs nothing.
And according to Walt Jung, better in performance (Fig. 3B, 8B).
