Most Greedy Boy, of them all... or (there is no) DEFiSIT of Papa's Koans

One of my PP monoblock pairs. I have far to many toys, dont know what
Im doing on this forum ;) I got these Quicksilvers very cheap. Nobody wanted them. They ate tubes. I updated a couple of caps and they where good for several years. :) Now I need to update more as one went out with a bang last year.

catch is in "stacked"

you mean - used together , in regular push pull?

with goal of having two dissimilar tubes in PP?

things already done zillion of times , voluntarily and non-voluntirely ..... with guitar amps having multiple pairs in output stage

some guitar players intentionally removed one tube of 4 , to invoke asymmetry

some had that simply by one tube gone south

maybe you'll like it , maybe not

What I mean is one triode and one pentode in PP looking at each other.
As I think again, there is no such thing as P channel tube.:D:D:D

Some person did this with EL84 and 6V6 saying it gives both tastes mixed.

I got your SP magazine and this can be a good read. Thank you.

Been there today, listened – environment: Iron SE, Pioneer DVD, Behringer DAC, RCA Speakers, SissySIT
SissySIT has the same character as DEFiSIT, I do not dare say what is better (neither worst), notice that on 16 Ohm RCA speakers Sissy works with 9W per channel), the feeling is like listening to a lamp, the topmost one that has been undergoing childhood illness, the one that is rarely met today .. very musical amplifier, quite fast and very sensitive to the production of material, means: what’s recorded you will got exactly, without any sugar, if it is badly recorded (produced) then it is very clearly heard .. very good, really great amplifier

Note: amp worked on a single cooler, with almost dried capacitors, and Edcor transformer, I expect that a regular dual mono variant with Cinemags and normal electrolytes, will be further refined with more details in the sound stage

I would go with the 540 although the 150 or 250 would work fine

I'll try to be short:

1. My respect for sharing knowledge and personal experience ; that is not so often human chracteristic in this days ;)
2. Zen and mcycle mainteance is my fave book too!
3.I have opportunity to acquire cheap mosfets:
IRF540
IRF640
IRFP150N
IRFP250
IRFP350
IRFP450
IRFZ48N
my question is-which one is best for Aleph series DIY (Aleph 3 or 5 maybe...) ?

I'm sure that autoformer will change the sound. Swapping autoformers for different taste would be fun for DIYers. :)

Iron = Neve sound (Classic British)
Steel = API sound (Classic US)
Nickel = SSL sound (Modern)
80% Nickel = NO sound???
