You can start by going to the DIYaudio.com store. Find the Aleph-J board, which is the closest amp to the "Pass AM" I'm assuming that's Aleph Mini?
There's transistor kits in the store along with a power supply board and several 4U chassis to choose from.

Go to the top of the Pass Labs forum, of which you are in, and look for DIYaudio Build Guides. There's a build guide for the Aleph-J.

You can get good transformers from Antek, Inc. probably need a 600VA for a stereo amp, but I bet it's discussed in the build guide.

If you don't have a source for electronic parts, try Mouser and DigiKey.

When you have questions, search for threads based on your issue or start a new thread.

We want to help, but not with a lame-o amp that no one knows what went into it and perhaps is ripping off the most generous audio electronics genius/wizard of our time. Can you see why we are touchy?

Good luck and stay away from junk.

Vince

Nursfortubes,

Where are you physically located? It might help folks give you suggestions on
sourcing parts, etc.

For example, if you are in the US, for not much more than the cost and shipping
of the ebay amp, you can get the parts, pcbs, etc for an Aleph-J or an F5.
This presumes you have some tools and basic equipment and are willing to put in
some elbow grease, but it should be fun.

I don't think the ebay amp will do 30wpc into 8 ohms; I simply can't see enough
output devices.

Cheers,
Dennis

Nursfortubes, my entrance into building my first Pass amp started off pretty much as yours. I was looking at Pass clone kits on eBay and wondering if they were any good because Id always to build a quality amp. When I posed the question on this forum many of the great and experienced members/amp builders here gave me their honest opinions about all of the projects available on this site and the DIY Store.

Member 6L6 suggested building the Aleph J amp, and with advice from him, Zen Mod, Dennis Hui, and many other enthusiastic members here I successfully built my Aleph J which as it turns out Im currently listening to music with as I type this post. Building an amp yourself will be a fun, rewarding and great learning experience. And, youll never be left in the cold when you need help.

Let's not forget the ACA kit. It's 6w, but it's a serious amp with seriously good sound. Sold out at the moment.

We have quite a few new kits in development for the store.

Fans of the ACA will note version 1.1 which is a stereo unit in a new
chassis and designed to cost less.

And there is a new ACA 2 which has more power and drives lower
impedances.

And lots more...

Just look at that. The guy could probably retire better than I will just by selling off 50% of the fets on his shelf, and has more accomplishments than 99% of us. Yet he uses his time on this?

You just CAN NOT screw with his generosity

Good luck with your build!

If you buy and it breaks - say good bye to your hard earned cash.
If you build it, you can definitely restore if it breaks.
What I like most with DIY, I can overbuilt.
