Researchers at UC Davis (my alma mater) have developed new SIT using
Gallium Nitride.

It looks like Panasonic jumped on UCD's GaN FETs and put them into a $17,000 Technics amp.

Their marketing materials describe stuff way over my head. The question I have is, are they suitable for a Pass inspired DIY design?

Looks similar to some blue MKP capacitors less like classic transistor.
Who know maybe we get more GaN Fet's in the future something powerful like Tokin ones
