Hockey Puck SIT 2SK180 by Tokin source NOS

Pa is having a stash substantial enough for serious production , not just for FW but also for PL numbers

go figure

It will extremely interesting to see what PL/FW brings to market with the Tokin parts.

I have just begun working with these SITs. It looks like the low voltage Vgs parts can be paired with LATFETs. The medium voltage Vgs parts can be paired with the IXYS pucks. The higher voltage Vgs parts can be paired with the IRFP92XX parts. That is just for a DEF pairing.

All sorts of single ended possibilities.

Then add SUSY, etc etc.

I will be happy making a DEF variant.

@Soundhappy, if you have heard the 2SK180 and 2SK182ES and THF-51S, do you hear any difference between them?

Maybe better question is what are you using these days (SITS)?

I think these are still cheaper than 300B tubes but the difference is that you probably won't be able to buy these by summer (Northern Hemisphere) or in another 6 months.

@ Twichie
I have possibility to play + 3 differents systems adapted to season's changes.
After years in this hobby and different DIY experiences what amazed me was
how nice amplifiers can sound in high bias class A with ordinary IRF transistors for example Aleph J ,M2 and MoFo.

Triode semi's I know actually Sony Vfet's amp's only, Tokin is matched for the near future.
My IXYS hockey pucks Schade50 build just wait for one more new bias boards and SIT signal path with jfet's buffers included.
Guessing compare the simulation with the original is an interesting topic.
Busy actually with preamp's B1Korg and B1XFMR, horns and compresion drivers musing,
back to amplifiers from Watt's New if ready. Very good time on the bench..
Last Sunday music session happen with Friend and without speak feeling was a quality progressed in right direction.
We just smile relaxed , enjoy music and drink hot chocolate in winter evening :):note:

Using amp input of 70 years old Philips :short signal path : full range speaker connected to web with tactile tablet is funny.
Seriously one my audio configuration example is DAC with single-ended classA tube output into volume autoformer and M2 amp
to 12" | 32 cm (non crossovers) wide range speakers. Natural , smooth and :superman: quiet.
Try how Vfet's and Sit's match with horn's and compression drivers is on to do list.

In the past Klangfilm have protected driver spider and gasket with cloth.
This Philips is special "tropical" model who resists to humidity and ocean salt air.
All wires are solid core, resistors not carbon component, but very old metal film type, film capacitors with hermetical layer etc.
High probability amplifier section can sing for next 50 years +

I haven't tested the 2SK180 for bandwidth, but it appears comparable to the
2SK182, more likely the THF51S. For the latter, common source operation from
600 ohms gives -3 dB at 10 KHz, so you will want to divide that 600 ohms by
whatever ratio gives you the rolloff frequency you want. 100 ohms might do it.

The output of a 2SK170 buffer would definitely do it.
