The F5X Preamp

A few people sent PMs asking for Bill of Materials for the F5X Preamp circuits.

Firstly I have, as an exception, already posted component values in the schematics.
But they should be treated as provisional, and will only be finalised after we have completed all build and tests ourselves.
This will help us, and you, to avoid confusions due to multiple revisions.

From our experience from the F5X and the Joachim Gerhard projects, we have also decided only to publish final schematics and BoM at our own website.
This will allow us full flexibility for Version control and editing.

So I can only ask you to kindly bear with us for now.
When we are ready to publish them, we shall put up announcements here.

Thank you for your interest,
Patrick

Followed by some pictures of the real thing (the first prototype).
We are very pleased with the results ourselves.

:)

Patrick

Actually cannot be more different.
We use a completely external PSU. And the left & right channels are in completely separate compartments.
Only the input PCBs are in a share compartment.
Also all user interface (some digital stuff) also in another compartment.

The devil is in the details.

Of course we did. That is why you see the same sperical slot in the PSU.
Just look at the illustration in the pdf file.

We'll think about the remote, but only after the preamp is finished.

A metal case for the remote is normally cold to the hand, so not really comfortable.
Also the case is easy, just design and get milled.
The lettering more tricky (no real better solution than silk screen)
But we really don't have time to write software.
Unless you want to take over ?

One at a time. :)

You could use POM plastic, or Teflon for the remote! ;)
