If you put your DVM on ac volts you should be able to see the input signal. If it is a test tone it will show up as a low ac voltage. If you are using music as a test signal it will show a low varying ac reading. The DVM frequency range is not really suitable for this test.

Does anyone know how I can buy the silver faceplates for the v1.6 kits? I ordered black, but want to change them out.

Contact the DIY Audio Store: email:support@diyaudiostore.com
I am pretty sure they can order individual parts from HiFi2000.

Or design your own Front Panel Express: Front Panel Design Software and CAD Conversion Service: Home

A short while ago, the DIYAudio Store had these listed separately for sale. Not sure if they were order only, or if they stocked them? But they had several different chassis pieces that could be bought.

Thanks Dennis,

I want it with the ACA engraving and power switch hole too. Thanks for the link though, that is a good backup plan.

Have you checked there isn't a short between the MOSFETs and the heatsink of the affected channel?

The fact that there IS music should say this isn't the place to look... perhaps something else is shorting against the heatsink?

One last swap test: have you changed the inputs to discard source fault?
