I put in sockets for R15 and C15 for making gain adjustments, and I left R14 at 1K and R16 at 100K. With R15 shorted and a 46.4K resistor inserted at C15 the gain is down by 10dB to 45dB at 1kHz. You could get the same effect by leaving everything else unchanged and increasing R14 to 3.2K.

Cheers,
Terry

Thanks Terry! I'm happy to hear it's as simple as increasing the value of just one resistor. I'll order a handful of resistors so I can closely match them.

Hi, WBS, Sorry for the late reply. Had to open up my Pearl. Unfortunately for me my MC is 300 ohms, H/O MC is 600 & MM 1000, so it looks like a SUT is required.
Yes SLS, I realise that, however occasionally I forget to turn the V/C down when I switch over to CD and the older I get the more forgetful I am getting. (nearly time for the retirement secure hospital wing!!!)

Cheers

Thanks for the response Gigigirl! Today I swapped out R14 raising it from 1K to 3.2K as metalman suggested. I matched them for to insure good balance between channels.

Metalman, I appreciate your recommending which value to use. What previously was 6:30 to 7 o'clock on my volume pots is now around 9 o'clock. High volume is now 12 to 2 o'clock. It sounds noticeably better to me.

It was more difficult than I imagined it would be. But thankfully I didn't ruin the pcb!

Wrapped up my Pearl 2 boards this evening. PSU is also ready - just waiting on chassis’ to arrive from Modushop. Pretty straightforward build so far. My goal was to get the RIAA boards in a 1U chassis, so that drove some of the component choices.

For the 6.81k resistor just before the RIAA portion, I used a couple Shinkoh resistors that measured in at 6.78k. Anybody see a potential problem in that 300R drop?

Sometimes I did it with 2 single Diodes (direction against each other - paralleled together with a paralleled resistor around 10 Ohms) in my preamps, active crossovers,... with lower power consumption.

Works beautiful. Also in Germany with 230V/50Hz.
But hum or hiss can also have other reasons!
But often there are groundloops. My experience.

what does CL-60 mean? i am about to complete an order for a few parts and im inclusing the ones for the ground loop breaker and the last parts that im not sure about which speciufications to buy is the thermistor.

im getting this rectifier: GBPC3510 ON Semiconductor / Fairchild | Mouser

If not, get shorter brass standoffs.
