I would/am going with the former, but Papa makes remarks about your very question in the thread below, check post 3.

Here

The quote is thus:

"In practice there is very little difference between the R100 and
R125 versions for our applications. I get just about the same
numbers in the J2's with either part."

Thank you.....good to know that the difference between them is very small for J2 application.

@ Meper

Glad I could be of help... since I'm new, it's a rarity.

Also Papa reports that using the R100/R120 in the CCS position makes no real effect on the sound, so you might as well use a mosfet there and save the expensive parts.

I am in for a quad of 2SK3497 in the group buy ….so the plan is to use these for the CCS and then either R100 or R125 as the output transistor.

Don't know why I ended here…...just built the M2X.....and then I got a set of the "long skinny PCBs".....and now I have almost all parts for the J2 amp......and with choice of R100 or R125 (big problem!).

Why?

Because.

That’s a perfectly suitable reason.

Need to build them all.

Yes, and it is a good mental relaxing hobby to be concentrated on a build and listen to it afterwards…….some "greediness" probably also :-)

My personally feeling is that as long as I can build, I will do so,
just because it's fun to build and listen.

(I just counted that I have now a dozen amps, all quite good. So I do feel
a bit bad that they don't get a much use as they should.)
