And the price?

They are $350 each stateside.

A couple of years ago at BAF there was a guy with a set of these set up as a 2 way with some woofs. They sounded pretty awesome!

another realm

though , there is a way I can get them for free ..... just paying travel expenses to Pa's , and few minutes of fear , while stealing them

edit: and RAAL is "only" 2K-60KHz , while ESS you can bother lower down , for clever and responsible home use

That's why I'd like to try a pair of ESS with my TAD 1601A. They are rated 800 Hz to 20k Hz!

you'll maybe miss some midrange sweetness , but worth a try

I'm more thinking about some nasty old-school 12" or something like that , counting on fact that TAD is sorta slow up

on the other hand ...... if Tannoy 15" cone can reach 1K , still sounding as it sounds ...... everything is possible

did you ever tried it in VoT arrangement?

The TADs will cross-over up to 1200 Hz, so I figure 1100-1150 would be worth a try.

I think the guy at BAF was using a 12" something or another, sealed, with his ESS sitting on top. It sounded great!

Haven't tried VoT. TADs are in a sealed box. The room is fairly small with no room for horns.

I mentioned VoT mostly because of xover point , not necessary cab fashion

in fact , in Cinema , or smaller part of Pro PA , VoT is synonym for two way - big woof + squawker combo , so sans mid driver

I almost ordered a pair of Heils as I got a pair of Altec 515-8Gs that could be crossed over quite high. But I already have the Altec A5s and model 17s (604-8g) and dont have too much spare cash at the moment so I dropped the idea. But could be fun.
