I've been "recycling" some parts from an old pcb and I have no idea what this is. Can you tell me?

It is a wire, with a body around it to facilitate installation by automated machines during board manufacture. Zero ohm resistor.

If you are not using automated pick and place machines to build your boards, it is easier to just use a piece of wire.
