Hello all
I have just determined that my Heathkit C3 Condensor Checker has an open circuit on the +55 volt winding. I was wondering if anyone out there has a suggestion for purchasing a new/old transformer.

It has 3 secondaries - 12 volts, 55 volts and 500 volts - No centre tapping. I live in a 240vac input world in Australia - however i can cope with 110vac too !!

? a rebuild of the existing transformer - if possible

Have spoken with Edcor , they dont have anything to offer.

The rest of the unit seems fine - albeit need new caps and resistors - however this is easy to do.

Cheers
Bruce

The C3 and other related cap testers from Heath, Eico, and others, are great tools. I still get out my old Eico 950B from time to time.

You need approximately 55vAC. There is nothing oprecision about this equipment, so something in the 50-60v range would work. You don't need any current behind it, so the transformer need not be physically large. My thought then is to get a small second transformer to mount inside for this function.
