Default Transformer leads

Picked up some used transformers from eBay and the leads are very short, between 2-3 inches long. What should I do with them?

Get some shrink tubeing and solder some new leads to the transformer and use the shrink tubeing to cover the exposed wire ....

I would recommend joining the extension wires with a crimped ferrule instead of a solder joint - it will be far less brittle.
