I am looking around for regulated linear 5V supply.
yeah I can wire up one and there are tons of 5/5.1/5.2V "adapters" available, but I don't want a 'battery charger'! Thought I'd check here see if it will save me the time and trouble.

I just want a clean, quiet, compact, enclosed, regulated, 5V 'power supply' that can easily handle 0.75-1A current drain.

I checked a few at mouser and digikey but they were either too big or expensive (>$50).

Let me know if you have any ideas where I can check.

Thanks!

Hi Mate

That is a nice little opration which i no way should cost you more than a few pennies.

I have had great luck with using the lm317 as andrew and jitter mentioned.

But, in the datasheet it is said that you should 100nF at the input and 1uF at the output, i currently use around 1mF at the input and 800uF at the output, and that feeds my preamp. It is quiet and noise free as one could ever wish for :).
