Hey Gang,
First, allow me to thank you for your time in reading my question!

Ok, I recently put into service a Yamaha MR1642 console. To my surprise, only 1 of 6 VU meters work. The only one working is fine...the other 5...are pegged over the red to the right and not moving.

So, my question, are these just "stuck" or do they need replaced?

All levels are within normal limits, just in case you would suggest the levels are screaming hot. LOL

Well, again, I wish to thank you for your time.

Thanks for your reply.

May I request what this means, please?

" look around ICs with the suffix *07, eg IC207/307/407 etc"

Ok, we powered the console down and the VU's stayed in the hard over position.

So, it looks as if the VU's will need to be replaced.

Any direction from this point?

I believe he meant looking at the schematics or the labelling on the boards.

What happens if You shake them ?
They usually have a coiled spring to bring the needle to 0. Check if it is broken.
Check if the needle is bent and touching the scale.

When I tap on them...they will move a little to the left but not much.
I would be more than happy to check the units...if I knew how to open the console.
Yes, there are screws and yes I took them out...but something is holding the raised portion on the console in.

I guess I am just tired and didn't come to a conclusion as to how to open the console containing the VU meters.
If ya'll have a solution...please let me know.
