Default Mic Cutting Out

Hey folks,

I'm doing a show where I'm having major issues with a mic cutting out. It's the only show of my day that has the issue and I can't recreate it myself.

The mic audio keeps on cutting out for several minutes at a time but I'm still getting a signal as it's showing when I solo it. It's definitely not a mic or cable issue as I have tried replacing both and the rest of the channels on the desk work.

Does anyone know what the issue could be?

Perhaps RF interference?

Can you try a different channel on that mic? Or use a different mic/rcvr unit that uses a different channel?

A clue on the mixer that is being used may help especially if the VU meter shows a signal and there is no output.

It's acrually a wired SM58 that we're using. Rather than signal I should've said level. The mic is running into a multi and then into the desk and I've tried using mutliple different inputs on the multi and it's not proving to be an issue with that.

mute switch problem? fader's in need of cleaning? does tapping/hitting the console cause the condition to change that would indicate bad/cracked solder joints...

loss of signal after PFL means that (according to the block diagram in the manual)means signal loss is after the the eq section and there's not much after that to the ouput...also check inserts jacks on the main outputs

I remember having problems with bad connections on inserts, so think Turk's suggestion is a good one. I use a 22 caliber gun brush to clean all 1/4" jacks. Use nylon, not brass. Or DeOxit and a 1/4" plug.

DeOxit and a 1/4" plug that's my go to in the field, along with a clean paper towel to wipe off the plug between insertions, sometimes it's frightening to see what's on paper towel after wiping!!!!
