The saddest songs I've heard are:

Daniel Powter - Bad Day

Quote:
Where is the moment when you need it most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
Tell me your blue skies faded to grey
Tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

Your standing in line just to hit a new low
Your faking a smile with the coffee to go
Tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces every time
And I don't need no carryin' on

(chorus)
Cause you had a bad day, you're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know, you tell me don't lie
You work on a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day, the camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day... you had a bad day
Sad song.

Another is James Blunt - You're Beautiful

Quote:
You're beautiful. You're
beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she
thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to
face the truth,
I will never be with you.
Another sad one...

Not half as sad as I am now I have James "Rhyming Slang" Blunt's godawful voice in my head

Quick! Someone post some of Nick Cave's lyrics to take the taste away

That is not depressing, it is extremely annoying. Rather than drive one to drink or worse, it is far more likely to lead to a sticky end for J.Blunt.

Tiz a sad one from the Internet.

Tonight I'll smash my car to pieces
Spread all of my diseases
Rip the sheets off my bed
Get the **** kicked out of my head
But in the morning, I'll be sober

Tonight I'll spend it all
Pull the arms off my doll
Stick a lit cigarette in my arm
Do all kinds of harm
But in the morning, I'll be sober

Tonight I'll forget how to speak
My legs will become so weak
Urinate down my thighs
Dot my Tís and cross my Iís
But in the morning, I'll be sober

Tonight I'll tell everyone off
I'll spit, choke and cough
Smoke until I'm stoned
Talk for hours on the phone
But in the morning, I'll be sober

Tonight I'll drink all of my wine
Roll down sidewalks without my spine
Get kicked out of the cafť
Put on a true display
But in the morning, I'll be sober

Tonight I'll burn down the house
Get tight with the neighbor and cheat on my spouse
Smoke all of my cigars
Drag my keys down peoples cars
But in the morning, I'll be sober

Tonight I'll lose my glasses
Kick all of your *****
Lose my sense of taste
Finish the race last place
But in the morning, I'll be sober

Tonight I'll forget my clothing
Sulk in self pity and loathing
Pass out and sleep on the subway car
Come so close yet be so far
But in the morning, I'll be sober

Nick Cave = interesting lyrics, Bad Seeds could be better. His recording engineer on " Lyre of Orpheus" should be taken out back and horse whipped = CD is over compressed and generally falls into the catagory of CDs to be avoided.
