Forward & Vertical Driver Placement

I have a couple of pairs of Tangband W3-871S drivers laying around that I had forgotten about. I would like to turn them into a pair full range speakers.

As I have 2 pairs I was thinking about placing one pair firing forward and one pair firing rearwards to counter act the -6bd of baffle step. However where they need to go, they will have to be very close to the wall.

So I though instead of placing the 2nd driver facing the rear, palcing facing the vertical, at 90 degrees to the front driver (like castle do on some of their floorstanding models). Would this have the same effect of counter acting the -6db of baffle step? :xeye:

Hi,

I'd simply build a 0.5 way, but you mention close to wall mounting.

To answer your question BS will be reduced by top mounting
but not eliminated for speakers measured in free space.

If the speaker is placed flush to the wall its easily argued that
the combination would not need baffle step compensation.

Its likely a specific spacing close the wall will give the smoothest
response, but this will not be as smooth as free space placement.

:)/sreten.
