Hi again, here i am, I love to post here, :) ja!

This time im looking more info about the Peavey FH-2 & FH-1, X-Ray plans, if some owner can make them, please please make them,

I downloaded the Peavey FH-2 .PDF from the www.peavey.com
http://www.peavey.com/media/pdf/manuals/80301015.pdf
and the FH-1:
http://www.peavey.com/media/pdf/manuals/80301013.pdf

but both does not have interesting inside X-Ray info about it,

The dth118b, Does have an interesting X-Ray of it!!!!!!
http://www.peavey.com/media/pdf/manuals/80304436.pdf
The dth 118 does not:
http://www.peavey.com/media/pdf/manuals/80300276.pdf

If you can, Please take time and make some X-Ray plans of the Peavey FH-2 and the FH-1, would be greatly appreciated!!!

im verry curious about FH-2 & FH-1, because
it seems to have the FH-2 2x15 horizontally in a horizontal box, all internet W-bins 2x15 are horizontal box but with vertical speakers that’s why im interested in FH2 ,
also and im bored with the Subs i have, don’t get me wrong, they sound great, deep, round, Bold, pleasant but im still not happy , don’t know why... I want MORE, My Brain Needs More but my pocket cant give more $,

I want to try W bins 2x15 or similar to EAW LA400 ZS type of horn folding , don’t like to try the CL type of horn folding of cerwinvega again because:

Just by looking the peavey FH-1 FH-2 .pdf against the DTH 118b/118 .pdf its like comparing W-Bins against CL Cerwinvega folded horn type, some like to call them punisher
and W bins win ???? according to the .PDFs
110dB and 107dB vs. 104dB ?
15" vs. 18" Blackwidow 1888-8 super special driver!

What I do not like about the 2x15 W-bin Electrovoice type plans i found on the internet in a great German web site, is that has the 2x15 vertically !!! ---> but the box its horizontal = does not fit in small doorways of 28" or 68.6cm, any speaker should have that in one side, of else i could be facing problems some day, some place, i think to my self! must be 28" in one side! or less

Here at the bottom is a .jpg of the sub woofers ive designed modified; they are like community vlf-218 but Bigger!
Bigger = Better for JBL 2241h
now i have loaded them with JBL 2241h

http://www.community.chester.pa.us/main/images/articles/vlf/vlf218.jpg
http://www.community.chester.pa.us/main/index.php?option=articles&task=viewarticle&sid=34

at first I loaded each box with 4x Peavey Black Widow 18'' in 2 isobaric front push pull facing pairs separated by 1" ring each, but because they have the Xmax so small, i decided to sell them and buy 2x JBL 2241H each box, sound verry similar, 4x Peavey in 2 isobaric vs. JBL 2241h problem is that Xmax physically clips hard the voice coil, with Subs = not good

They are way easy to transport
I’ve heard Folded Horns sound way louder, but iv heard 4x Cerwinvega T-36, same room against Meyer 650 with rcf l18p300 or against my vlf218 and the cerwinvega don’t impress me = does not sound as Loud as RCf l18p300 in meyer 650 kid of boxes or as Deep Pleasant as JBL 2241h in this VLF218 modified boxes

These sound really Deep Pleasant, You Feel & Hear everything arround moving from the vibration, mostly Glass & Windows, the near arround 60Hz makes that effect in glass

but Im still not happy, so i build two folded horns of 153cm x 153cm x 66cm (62.44" x 62.44" x 26.93" aprox.) cant remember well,
in tablex of 30mm = 1.22" tablex immunized,
tablex its like ecologic wood made from scratch, and left overs of wood shops glued and immunized by a compacter hydraulic press,

hi quality verry compacted immunized tablex its great! can be burned in the fire place!!!! does not unglue with the contact of water H2O

had near 4.5meters of horn length, CL type like Cerwinvega earthquakes

344meters = 1Hz = The speed of sound
344 / 100Hz = 3.4meters
4.5meters = 76Hz,

but im still not happy
was Folded Horn Like Cerwinvega:
http://www.cerwinvega.com/products/professional/vegabass/images/foldedhorn.gif

, but i made the mistake of loading them with the JBL 2241h, I didn’t make the math, the homework, good for horn loading = Fs/Qes = >120,

JBL 2241h has 81.39 = <120 = not good for Horn loading,
also the inside back chamber was to big,

i made it big so big because i was afraid the Heat melting the voice coil, like I’ve heard it happened with lots of Cerwinvega T-36!
Heat = Enemy for Earthquake folded bass horns

Something was wrong, because its was huge but 2x sounded a bit less! compared to 1x VLF218 modified with 2x18"s

from 80Hz to 20Hz, and sounded more from 120Hz and up to 300Hz or something like it
similar but Equalized differently = NOT EarthQuake, i was hoping for, i has hoping to at least increase sound of 3dB more, so i could save Big $$$

But i ended up chopping it down, and saving the Tablex i could to my next project,

I still think JBL 2241H its the Best for Vented Boxes, gives lots of 40-50Hz more than any other 18 speaker, in any Software like the great but old JBL speaker shop or the Eminence Designer , or others, using 2x 2241H in a 600Liters box tuned to 30Hz-33Hz,
or the original 18cuft box,

it gives way more dB SPL in 40Hz-50Hz than Electrovoice MTL-1X,
12 of those Ev sound like a 60Hz hum, but you not feel it, JBL 2241h in big box sound FAT, BOLD , Round, and you feel it, or hear something else feeling it

Horns Promise so much, but ive haven’t heard something that really impress me, earthquake its just to much name for it
http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/plans/product_info.php/products_id/14

but I haven’t given up hope, in the search for the Best sub woofer
for me
problem = money
JBL 2241h are expensive + QSC MX-1500a or MX-3000a expensive for me, = im ugly
so i must compensate the ugliness, with efficiency

I like the Manifold technology idea of EV, but not its implementation, for example they say, if you couple any Sub speaker closer to less than the 1/2 Wave length it makes it adds some +dB more,

www.ramsdellproaudio.com WH1-DBL its the reason why im thinking again about Horns for Subs!,

I really want to find the perfect Sub woofer, and the best from 20Hz to 100Hz so far its the original JBL 4719 box, or any clone copy or similar ive found, because i like verry much the 40Hz- 50Hz feeling of those deep sub bass with a Tube harmonic generator of some kind, or the dbx120xp, or the aphex aural exciter,

anyway my Community VLF-218 modified copy gives a bit more in 125Hz and 160Hz than the original vented box, like a gentle Graphic Eq boost in those Frequencies but naturally , by its efficiency = Good,
but a bit less in 30Hz - 50Hz than the original JBL front vented box, because the semi band pass, front loaded small horn, like EV likes to call it, Manifold technology, i don’t know why i keep calling it Manifold, takes from the sub-lows to give more to the low-mids, that’s its nature,
the speakers in angles in a band pass like front open box does that effect to the 20Hz-to-50Hz and from 100Hz to 200Hz,
from 300 and up to 500Hz sounds a bit fuzzy,

I my mind there’s a battle about keeping the JBL 2241h and get more, or to save some $$ for precision devises pd2450 24" !! or to radically change to a W bin similar to the Peavey FH-2 or the W-Bin i found plans in a German web page in the internet, that were better than the original W-Bin from Electrovoice 1x15,
Great Web Pages here: 2 o 3 link are dead
http://zmatek.jinak.cz/diy/

http://zmatek.jinak.cz/diy/wbin/w.doc
JBL W 18—Bin Box Horn
http://zmatek.jinak.cz/diy/pbaudio/earthquakeB36/Earthquake B36 Baskast.doc
EarthQuake B36 with L18P300 but recommended is L18S800 for horn loading, www.rcf.it
The Fs/Qes = >120

http://www.musiker-board.de/vb/showthread.php?t=577
theres lots of link i love to post here, but diyaudiocom does not allow more than 10K characters!---------

Maybe like the EAW LA400 type of folded S Z horn but in 15", not like the Cerwinvega CL type of horn, this time with a few Electrovoice DL15bfh i could get easy from lots of eliminator double
http://www.starin.info/Product Info/Telex/DL15BFH.pdf

that gives Fs/Qes = 151 according to that .PDF with Xmax of 4mm
i say that because EV Thielle & Small parameters are wrong in the JBL Speaker Shop software, cant imagine why, jajajaj

or Peavey
1201-8 ===== 213.21 !!!! Xmax of 2.6mm 350w
1203-8 ===== 148.5 & Xmax of 1mm :( 350w
1205-8 ===== 191.72 & Xmax 4.5mm :) 350w
1501-4 ===== 116.75 & Xmax 1.2mm :( 350W
1502-8 ===== 124.7 & Xmax 2.8mm :( 350w
1505-8 ===== 113.3 & Xmax 4.8mm :( 350w
1505-8 KADT = 119.2 & Xmax 2.6mm :( 350w

1208-8sps === 125.22 & Xmax 4.7mm :) 500w
1508-8cu ==== 124.4 & Xmax 4.7mm :) 500w
1508-8he ==== 145.45 & Xmax 1.9mm :( 500w

Peavey has a Folded Horn dth 118b and a similar dth 118, similar to Cerwinvega earthquake CL type of folded horn, but has a dip in the frequency response, that looks suspicious to me, and the 18" 1801-8 BW driver has:
1801-8 ===== 63.8 & Xmax 4.8mm :( 350w

18" inch folded horns for some reason don’t sound LOUD,
i think the Fs/Qes reason, maybe its other reason, or like always its both reasons, but have seen several German web pages comparing W-Bin 1x18, against 1x15 and 2x15, and still sound better=loud & deeper the 15inch ones, according to their tests, and according to EAW technology for Folded Horns also coincide in that www.eaw.com ,
the only rebels still doing Folded Horns with 18" are ramsdell pro audio and cerwinvega, and martin, Viking audio, das audio, etc. that I can remember!

Any way here are the .Jpg of the Modified community VLF-218

I would highly recommend - don't do it. I schlepped around those FH2's years ago, they were ok for the time but in about the same cubic feet pack space you could build LAB subs - or even better, the LAB TH plan here for modularity.

The Peavey BW's were lousy sub speakers, this box helped their efficiency a lot. The new LowRiders are great drivers, but I wouldn't build these things and put them in it - even if they'd fit. The magnets on the old BW's were within an inch or two apart, back to back. Originally they used 2 x 4ohm drivers in parallel, the horn loading raised the impedence 2ohm so 4 ohm total for the box.
