hi, ive built a pair of standmounts using these drivers- the pl18 works ok in enclosures of 15-25 liters tuned to around 45hz.

there are crossovers here: http://home1.stofanet.dk/troels.gravesen/index_b/PL18XT.htm

and here: http://www.partsexpress.com/projectshowcase/nebula/nebula.html

i built the parts express nebula crossover and it sounds very very good to my ears, but im sure both work just as well. The xt25 seems to like series crossovers. The acoustic energy AE1 mk3 uses an xt25 with a series crossover: http://www.acoustic-energy.co.uk/products/reference/referenceloudspeakers.html

i have see many xt25 + pl18 project (nebula/ebaudio) but all of them using capacitor over 20uF, in Indonesia, capacitor over 20uF is very expensive (solen). So, i want to try more simpler xover.

thanks

Even if you parallell 2 x 10uF????:(

XT25 demands high order XO, so no simpler xover to fit, but it worths to die for. Buy partial amounts of components..... I had to import from USA, first inductors, then some large caps, small ones plus resistors and so on. A real delivery. Got a pair of Nebula now and don´t regret :D :D

Cheers

What does a ring radiator do better?

I have never found any write-up which says how a ring radiator is superior to conventional domes. I have read about domes, about fabric-versus-metal domes, about ribbons and planars, but I haven't been able to find anything about ring radiators. And I can see SS charging some enormous dollars for their ring radiators, so I presume that those who buy it must be getting something very special in sound quality?

Will some of you experienced builders please enlighten me?

And how much worse is Vifa's affordable XT compared to the SS, in terms of final sound quality?

Thanks for your responses.
