Is it possible to cover the whole spectrum, high SPL, low distortion with a 2-way?

Some people may quibble about the lack of roundovers at the mouth, but all-in-all the Selenium HL4750-SLF isn't a bad horn.

With a length of 352mm, according to Holland & Newell, it should be classified as a deep horn.

What if the depth is reduced to about 30cm, while preserving the overall horn profile (adjusted for the new length)?
30cm is considered 'the critical depth for a horn' according to the aforementioned authors.
Coverage angles would increase, without compromising loading characteristics too much.

This is what you get:

The more I dive into JBL's Optimized Aperture horns, the more I become convinced these approach the pinnacle of (classic) horn design.
Measurements of 2332, 2381 (attached images), 2352 etc. posted on the Lansing forum confirm my expectations.

A few tiny tweaks may improve performance and more importantly: sound quality.

My Solidworks skills need some refreshment, but I am looking into ways to enhance the diffraction throats, as well as the walls and the mouth roundovers.
Fillets and splines instead of sharp edges may work wonders. This would result in an interior more akin to the RCF horns.

Some DDS horns look like improved JBL designs.

You could use some Plasticine modeling clay and install some Roy Delgado (designer of the Klipsch K402 horn) "mumps" he calls them which you can see in a photo of the Klipsch K510 about one third of the way down the page in the attached link.

The bigger brother is a 3 way with 2235 used from 16 Hz to 120 Hz, 2226 from 120 Hz to 482 Hz, and 2445 from 500 Hz and upwards.
