Depends on the driver's specs, desired TL type, performance, so due to such a high Vas, yours would be big even at the bare minimum of Vas/1.44.

I'm like Lynn, but agree that had I auditioned the PMC first rather than decades after my 'adventures' with TL/pipe horns it would have turned me off to the concept. Ditto the English dude's long, skinny, heavily stuffed pipe. pipe.

The ellipse indicates a nice balance between cutoff, efficiency and cabinet size IMHO (considering actual vented-box systems have an efficiency lower than the maximum given in the figure).

I want to believe in TM lines....and the group delay is low....but the sealed and ported version beat out my TM modeling for the 18h+ for extension on output so I'm not quite getting it.
Now that I look again, the sealed, has better group delay even. Is there something else to the sonic quality of TM?

TLs are great for squeezing the last iota of performance out of (usually) small drivers but who needs them for large robust drivers in the home?
Key to making the right decision is knowing how loud you actually listen and what the excursion has to kept below at this level to satisfy distortion goals.
Note that if a single sealed TD18H+ per side isn't enough, you could fit two in a fraction of the space that a TL would require.
The artist in you might want a masterly crafted TL but the engineer will likely advise you differently.

The only stand oput spec I can find is a much lower impedance peak.....so that must make a noticeable difference in sq. otherwise spl and extension are better with sealed and ported. Group delay is that of a sealed.
You can get a decent response and more of it with less filling but then group delay goes way out the window.
I'm just saying that the allure has to be geared more towards lower impedance and lower energy reflected behind the woofer...

The vast majority of large format studiomonitors and accompanying subs are either sealed, or (more often) bass reflex.
AFAIK very few TLs are built for larger cones.
Besides, you'll need a gigantic cab, because the TD18H+ isn't the most suitable driver for TLs.
There's also the (increased) risk of damaging the drivers.
