Yeah, IMAX dwarf's the then overwhelming 70 mm Cinerama I grew up with.

Even more so if you consider the dimensions of a the 4-way 5742's (which btw are used with the cabs of the 5732 in the IMAX theatre):
2763 mm x 762 mm x 610 mm (108.8 in x 30.0 in x 24.0 in).

......though quite a bit smaller 'face' than the A4X due to its wings [108.5" H x 80.5" W x 39.5" D], which begs the question: do the JBL's have as 'full' an upper bass/lower mids?

OT, if someone in or near Germany doesn't feel like building his own big 2-way and wants to follow in the footsteps of Mitch(ba), there's currently a pair of 4722Ns for sale.

JBL baffled 2-way, 12" + 2409H, the same HF driver as 7 Series master reference studio monitors.

Frequency Response (-3dB): 77Hz - 14kHz
Frequency Response (-10 dB): 44Hz - 18kHz
Free Field Sensitivity: 99 dB SPL@1W, 1M
Calculated Max SPL: 125dB

Same series, top-of-the-line model (it's also a 2-way).

Frequency Response (-3 dB): 44Hz - 18kHz
Frequency Response (-6 dB): 40Hz - 20kHz
Frequency Response (-10 dB): 36Hz - 20kHz
Max Continuous SPL: 135 dB
Horizontal Coverage (-6 dB): 100° @ 4kHz
Vertical Coverage (-6 dB): Asymetrical 600 (+25, -45 @ 4kHz)

At less than 50% of the price of a pair M2s these seem to offer quite a lot of value.

In Europe these are available from this store ao.
