Replacing amp in bi-amp speakers.

I have a pair of original Blue Sky System One 2.1 that were originally sold to a local recording studio in 2002. These are two 6.5"mid+1"tweeter 100w biamped with a massive 12" 200w sub.

As Blue Sky has told me, the Chinese amp/xover boards are known for bad solder joints and I've fixed them a couple of times when one speaker has cut out.

This last time, I wired in the 15w Lepai amp with one channel for tweeter, one for midrange - still using the active xover it actually sounds good.

Encouraged, I'd like to permanently replace the unreliable 100w amps with clean 50w internal or external.

Any suggestions or is this not a good idea?

Thanks,
-pc
