I'm looking for a 2" (or so) midrange dome. Have you tried the Dayton RS52 either metal or fabric? If so, impressions?

Yes, i used rs52 aluminum dome many times with great result. It has sharp break up at ~13khz, but its high enough to be removed by 2nd order filter. Never had problem with it.
I never used soft dome version of rs52, supposedly it has higher distortion than metal dome, so not recommended.

The breakup @13K is not an issue for me. I'd use it 725-4550 with LR4

Did you have THD measurements for it? and did you prefer it over the Hivi?

There is dc50 dayton dome, soft dome with almost no breakups, i am using two per side now in mtm arrangemet with hivi ribbons. Great sound.
But i removed front plates to be able to mount all as close as possible.
Big front plate is limiting crossover frequency, but once removed, no problem. Its just glued in place.

Daytons and hivi were never compared side by side, and my distortion measurements are not accurate.

Sorry I missed this, adason...

Sure can!

See attached... Just edit the 4.7 ohm resistors for level adjustment.

Go to his Photobucket link and scroll down the projects list on the left hand side until you see the "NEHD" project. The LAT250s are also NLA as far as I know. Here's another design I found that uses the Tangband W6-1139 as the woofer, I have no idea how good or bad the design is. LINK
