Tang Band has a new line of coax drivers for point source. From 3" to 8" drivers.
The 6.5 and 8" driver sport a funky surround... and even have a designer grill over the tweeter. Driver - TB SPEAKER CO., LTD. ![]() |

Interesting. And potentially promising. I have some reservations about the tweeter response graph which seems remarkably better than anything anyone else (including Seas

For fun, I plugged the 6.5" into TL sim, and it came up with great possibilities!
A narrower and longer version works well, but even something a little "stubby" looks great. Only 1m tall, 700cm2, and a small vent. F3 at about 28Hz! If the tweeter sounds good, this could be a killer mini tower! |

Really interesting, and reasonably priced (186 € at bpa)! The cone breakup of the woofer looks really controlled as well. Can't really play above 100 dB, but that's alright for most people.
Just putting the W6 in a 20 l vented box tuned to 45 Hz gives a F3 of about 40 Hz. Who will build the first one? /Anton |

Too bad there is no 5 inch version. Would have been fun to try as a drop in for my current W5-2143 based speakers.

oops!
I thought there was something wrong with the sim... indeed it would have been a magical driver! I had some wrong parameters in there... fixed and this is more like I thought it would perform... |

Interesting indeed - any ballpark on distribution dates / pricing? As the info linked above may be very preliminary, I note that while the photos clearly show XO components on the smaller two, the absence of mention of specific recommended crossover frequency on the 6.5 or 8" - other than the "to perform from 800 up to 40KHz - leave those two open to huge amount of experimentation.
I'm thinking these will be either a raging success, or memorably underwhelming ?

Being a bit of a coax fan, I would like them to be good. Providing the price is right, they could be very interesting. Thing is, they're going to have to offer something that, for e.g., these don't:
H1353-08/06 T18REX/XFC And at the pricier end E0051-04/06 C16N001/F You'll have to do your own filter for both the TBs & Seas drivers though. Which is where much of the system voicing resides.
