Depends what you're looking for. At 8KHz, "anything" will do the job. By that I mean you're way outside of concerns about ragged and bad sounding bottom end response. 3/4", 1" domes, AMTs, planars, pick a good one. Maybe look at Zaph Audio and Troel Gravsen's websites.
However: Crossing at 8KHz in a traditional sense will be awful anywhere off axis. As the tweeter widely project sound and the 1772 beams sound, I'm guessing starting around 2KHz. Another problem is interaction of the drivers on the baffle. The tweeter needs to be within a certain distance of the 1772 to reduce artifacts in the crossover zone and to avoid it sounding like 2 point sources rather than one speaker.
