Hardwood speaker cabinets

i am researching if it is a possibility to use hardwood only. In order to build a small speaker cabinet. any advice or information would be appreciated.

If you choose hard wood, ensure adequate damping to reduce ringing caused by the hard wood.
Roof insulation material, (Fibre Glass/Rockwool) is excellent and cheap.

No idea where you are located but Ikea do a resinated bamboo cutting board... 420 x 280mm approx x 12mm thick. These make rock solid little boxes.

How big is 'small'? I have built cabs with 1-2L internal volume, all hardwood, PVA glued butt joints and they have held up fine. Anything larger than that requires some thought to prevent the cabs tearing themselves apart due to wood movement (expansion/contraction). Do a search for ideas on how to avoid this.
