Default Has anyone Accuton C168-9-470 driver measurements?

Hello,
when choosing a driver for one of my future projects I compared Accuton C168-9-470 driver measurements from this place:

Accuton AS168-9-470 | HiFiCompass - всё для акустических систем и не только

with the manufacturer data:

AS168-9-470 CELL

and found "some" of differences in the frequency responses.

The speaker driver price is not so small, about 900 EURO for a pair, to take a simple decision.

Did anyone work this driver with?

Thank you

Hi,
I have no experience but independent?() response doesn't look too far away from factory. Besides, two different measurements will never be exactly the same.
However, be prepared for a Scheißsturm, expensive drivers are pooped on here

I think someone has taken the plunge with a couple of pairs over on HTguide. Do a search there and see what pops up.

They actually arent too bad a price, for accuton. Good bass response too and the actual surface area is bigger than most 7" drivers

Default How about a C158-8 instead?

Any interest in C158-8 measurements? Curt and I used it in our Bordeaux design and we both think it's a killer driver.

Wanting to use it for a while. The only thing that bugs me about it is it looks to have a dip in the lower midrange

Hi Bill,

Here are real measurements...

Curt crossed over to the AST2560 at 2.3K. If you have an interest in looking at the crossover, design etc. send me an email ( jim at jholtz dot us ) and I'll send you a pdf file with all of the information. We don't have it posted on Curt's website yet.

Here's a link to my Bordeaux album; Bordeaux | Flickr

Thanks Jim, I will pick up a pair when I go back to UK in april. Not sure if I'm pushing it by crossing to the new viawave ribbon. Maybe a 3rd order wd work.

I'm not sure how low the new Viawave ribbon will cross but the C158 works best 2.5K or below. it isn't a driver you want to push too high due to the 4K breakup. If the crossover is right, it is simply a superb sounding driver in our opinion. Curt said the Bordeaux is the best sounding design he's done. It's certainly the best I've owned/heard.

Good luck!

Jim

You’ll probably be fine, Troels crossed it LR2 at 2,2-2,3kHz to an AT 6”.

Looks like Viawave GRT-145 has really low distortion and high efficiency, alone in it's own league!
