Hadnt realised Troels crossed them so low. but that bodes well!

Had my GRT145's 6 months now, hooked up with SB Nac midwoofers in a simple standmount crossed at around 2.7khz They do sound great

The project above is awesome. Just read through the build thread ..

An accuton I hadnt spotted - underhung motor but this one is priced between the ferrite and the super expensive versions. Anyone tried it?

I hadn't worked with C173-6-197 but did with C220-6-227. These drivers share the same motor. C220-6-227 is very, very good driver, much better than other Accuton's ferrite motor drivers. This motor is the first of Accuton motors which has conducting ring in the motor, so low distortion. I think, C173-6-197 has the same properties.

A question, anyone think the C168 can cross ok to the new viawave ribbon ok? Maybe steeper than normal. The accuton THD and off axis response suggests a crossover point no higher than around 2250hz imo - Troels has crossed the viawave at 2200hz (2nd?)

Doable?

YouTube

seems to suggest that anything below about 3500 may be an issue

Troles used 2200 hz. BUT this will lower sensitivity of ribbon to get flat response. Not an issue in many systems. Looks like he got around 90 db sensativity at 2200 Hz
