Hi guys, anyone know any decent 3-5inch passive radiators that i can get hold of in the Uk? All i seem to be able to find are 8" and above radiators, which are no good to me as this is for a portable speaker build, or cheap square ones off ebay! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Passive Radiators in the Speaker Components Department at Parts Express | 26
They are quite pricey!
In place of the passive radiator, use a normal speaker with the coil open. You can apply some added mass to it's cone to lower the Fr.
You can short the coil with various resistances to apply electrical damping.

You could get one of the TangBand passive radiators, PR01, PR9 or PR14.
PR01 - Rectangular passive radiator plate - TB SPEAKER CO., LTD.
It's also possible to use a normal bass driver for that use. You can glue weight to the dustcap to adjust the tuning frequency or fill the cone, i.e. with silicone, hot glue etc.

- P-6.5 Passivmembrane 16 cm / 6.5" mit variablen Gewichten"
It's a little more then you 3-5" but they are quite cheap.
Build quality is not too high though, and don't expect to be able to load it with a lot of extra weight, as it has no spider ...

The Bantams Micro Speaker System - Techtalk Speaker Building, Audio, Video Discussion Forum
Maybe the Bantams are heading in the right direction? Also have a look at Paul Carmody's Sprite. The ND91s want less box volume to play in than the Aura NS3/ND90.
