Hello, for my next diy 3 way build with the well known Saba Greencones I need an advice concerning the coil for the woofer section...
The constructor says 4,0mH coil... but I only have a 4,7mH...
Shall I hear first and then maybe search for a 4,0mH?
Or can I somehow unwind the coil a little?
Is there a way to measure this?
Greetings!

Unwinding inductors
Inductance varies by the number of turns squared.
L2/L1 = (N2/N1)^2
Count the original # of turns (N1) and use initial inductance (L1) and Desired inductance, (L2)
Solve for N2:
N2=N1*sqrt(L2/L1)
N1-N2 = number of turns to remove.

If you are serious about building crossovers, you really need a LCR meter (inductance, capacitance, resistance). Or you could use a computer based measurement tool. I think the DATS (Dayton Audio Test System) measures inductance. You can't trust the marked values of inductors and capacitors.
