Cerwin Vega D3 ?

I can't find much information on these, I found an original pristine pair . When I fired them up the foam on the woofers immediately turned to dust.

I'm in the process of refoaming them, while removing the Woofer I noticed the wiring is out of phase. Tonight I removed the midrange to have a look at maybe adding some bracing and it's also out of phase, the negative from the binding post is wired to the positive marked post of the midrange speaker.

Does anyone know if that's the way they come from the factory?

Depending on the crossover topology, the midrange could be out of phase from the factory but NOT the woofers.

You're welcome! Looking forward to what you find out. One thing I'm curious about though is; have you checked to confirm that the [+] terminals actually move the cones out?

No....I've done no testing at all. Just finished the first Woofer refoaming, glueing, tone centering. It's on the bench for the night to finish curing. Might get the second one tomorrow. Then I'll start checking everything.

Well foaming is done, I went back with the wires, red to the red, black to black. What a nice surprise these little guys are.

For a 30 year old speaker they sound pretty darn good.

I'm curious if there would be any benefit from adding additional stuffing in the cabinet with these being a front ported design.
