Gentlemen,
I recently inherited two Altec LoudSpeakers (from pictures, I am guessing they are 859-A's) from my father. I have fond memories of these speakers when I was growing up and would like to include them in a new 5.1 system.
1) What should I do to restore them or at least have them checked out to make sure they have not failed from old age? They must be close to 40 years old.
2) What center and surround speakers are recommended with these speakers?
3) What type of amplifiier is recommended and do you have some manufacturers you can recommend?
4) What US$ value would one place on these speakers? I am assuming they are worth saving.
