Classix II or something else?

My flatmate has moved out and taken his B&W 805s with him.

I would love to buy a pair of B&W 601s3 second hand but I can't seem to find any here in Western Australia and shipping from the east coast seems prohibitively expensive.

So I'm thinking of building a pair of speakers and I'd like to aim for somewhere close to the B&W 601 in terms of sound quality if possible.
Is the Classix II roughly in the same ballpark in terms of sound quality?

As for buying the kit, meniscusaudio has it for $155 + $100 shipping (usd) to my address.

Budget I'd like to keep under is $400.

Is the classix a good choice or should I go for something else?

Australian suppliers would be nice if possible.

My full stack is:
- AudioGD dac (ºÍ§Ó*µ响)
- Rotel RA-940BX Integrated amp

I've got an AppleTV and a Technics 1200 turntable plugged in to the amp so I can swap between streaming audio from the laptops and vinyl.

Eventually I'm planning on upgrading the amp to a Rotel RB-1050 or similar. I've got a Lovely Cube preamp ready to go for that step too.

Your initial assumption is wrong.
According to this quote from the mentioned link:

" When Jeff Bagby heard the story he wanted to be part of the
process, so he chipped in and came up with a pretty simple
design that works very well and keeps the parts cost low."

I think it would be impossible for Jeff to screw up a design.

You know, you can undo everything any designer thought to be
right. The most important thing is the drivers are of good quality.
