Hello,

I'm having a difficult time choosing a crossover for a two way system. I'm not sure if the wattage should be something like woffer+tweeter or if less will do?

Below are links to both drivers & the available crossovers. Please help, any useful advise is also welcome :p

Hi,

Your x/o link doesn't work, and FWIW any prebuilt x/o
won't work well with those drivers, and the lack of
driver information means you can't say what will.

They are all wrong for home hifi, strictly for basic PA stuff.

You can't say how big the cabinets should
be, or if they should be sealed or vented.

You can guess that 10" can't be used as a bassmid.

If you haven't bought the bits yet you need a major rethink.

What sort of speakers do you want for what purpose ?

Fane do a couple of good full range speakers.
Using these would mean you don't need a crossover or tweeters.

Fane Sovereign 12-250TC 250WRMS
Fane Sovereign 12-200LT 200WRMS.

I have used both speakers in pairs for a mobile disco and pub guitar work and they sound good. The 200 is about £52 and the 250 is about £63 on ebay. Or look up Blue Aran - Professional Sound and Lighting they have a large range of speakers including the ones I mention.

Hi,
Well if look at your provided link, as far as I can see there has been a serious attempt of an experienced builder. Further more, the Vifa P13 used in Okara was/is (discontinued) easier than most drivers to succeed with, even for a fool as my self.

I would suggest to buy a proven kit, build it and then swap some components in the filter to see what actually happens. Oh, reading is always a good tool also:eek:)

The reason those drivers you linked to are not recommended is that there is just not enough info on them. You need the Thiele-Small parameters to design boxes and crossovers. Or measure them yourself.

There are lots of well designed kits available at vendors like these:
https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/speaker-kits/
DIY Speaker Components | Replacement Speakers | and Speaker kits from Meniscus Audio Group
Speaker Kits in the Speaker Components Department at Parts Express | 286

Lots of info here:

Also check out the full range forum here if you want to avoid that crossover issue altogether.

Have fun with it!

I read this how to guide & figured building a speaker would be a fun project.
I have a parts store near my house so it was tempting to start looking at options.

Hi,

That guide is fine because the author sensibly chose a
complete kit, from a quality vendor, with well matched
drivers and all the x/o and box design done for you.
(As explained by the author in the article.)

You won't go wrong with this great value complete kit :
