Hi,picked up a pair of 3a apogee speakers french built in the seventys ,both the tweeters were dead so I replaced them with an old pair of 8ohm mylar tweeters ,replaced both caps in the crossover which consisted of one 3.3ohm capacitor and one inductor coil, based on the 3.3ohm cap it looks like crossover frequency is around 6500 hz ,the cabinet is made from veneered chipboard with a bit of fibreglass to damp it down a bit, they sound very boomy with not a great deal of top end ,I wondered if anyone has any experience of these speakers as don't know if they are a bit boomy or need to put them on stands or need to play around a bit with the crossover re-new tweeeters, thanks
