Dahlquist DQ10 midbase upgrade

I remember Philips advertising their change to aluminum coils for better power handling.

I know their M version of the driver had a cloth surround. They could have had some cloth versions of the W, especially for a large customer. The cloth M version with whizzer cone was used in the Rectilinear III.

A picture of the rubber edge W8 version, I've seen the cloth edge version but
perhaps it was an incorrect replacement:

Just bought what appear to be later production, gently used, DQ10s, serial numbers 49XXX
range. They have the AD5062/W8 midwoofers and to not appear to have ever been worked
on. There are no signs of overheating anywhere in the crossover. I believe that the AD5062
version came from the factory and it is a good thing because they have much higher thermal
capacity.
The mid woofers had these markings, guessing that they are from 1983:
AD5062/W8

DD 00 315 83

I am confused as to why you all keep referring to your speakers as Dahlquist DQ10’s. There was a reason they were considered by many as top ten speakers of all time. A 356 Speedster replica is “not” a Porsche Speedster. A box filled with drivers other than original is just a box with drivers in it. Things are only original once.
Just saying.
