And the 2" version isn't a lot cheaper: Volt VM527 2” Dome Midrange Driver

Attachments show some ITT things.
One of the domes had a dimple in the response that the others didn't.
But for units that are 1,5x my age I'm not complaining. The others were quite consistant.

Hi ! yes ... clearly a high end precision driver. The quality is quite evident.

Attachments show some ITT things.

Impressive result indeed. Congratulations !

yes that was the reason of my interest. I have already a pair of the 37mm ITT dome-tweeter ... actually i got confused with the parts number Data are scarce and most of them in german language.
However i saw the ITT 50mm dome used in an old TOTL speakers designed by a quite famous italian designer. This fact for me it is more than enough to be sure of its quality.
Aging is an issue ... difficult to measure.
Thanks a lot for the valuable info.

Not quite.
ATC did supply the likes of Quested, PMC and K&H/Neumann with mids but the moment they gained in popularity ATC stopped selling to them which lead Quested to approach Volt for a replacement (VM752), PMC to build their own and Klein&Hummel/Neumann to simply cancel the one model which used the ATC mid.

Never heard of Westlake using ATC drivers.

I think you're probably right about Westlake, maybe only Quested Im thinking of then.

Proac of course too.. Proac used the ATC in some top models from the 80s and well into the 2010s.. they may still use it now (but Proac make their own horns for it, likely just for cosmetic reasons).

It wasn't really as soon as ATC gained popularity. It was more a recent marketing decision to keep their USP more... unique, I think.

Their dome midrange seems to have a brand image all of it's own, aside from the company.

1) Close up (few mm) low voltage measurement of bare driver, microphone in the center of the dome, no crossovers iirc
2) Response in DIY waveguide
3) Build in progress
4) Rear view
5) Inside view of motor

Unfortunately the distortion plot of the finished box (shown in previous post) wasn't near what the first attachment of this post might suggest. It is a driver for a monitor that needs to go loud and clean, it seems my home environment requires something else.

I'm still looking for a low-loss suspension, low distortion cone midrange/midwoofer to take its place.
