Default focal 7w6451 sealed box

Hello, I am trying to design a sealed cabinet for this driver.

I found a page on Zalytron which give a very small cubic volume. So small that I cannot fit the woofer in the box physically.

Am I doing something wrong here? Can someone double check this for me?

Here are the specs from the zalytron page: Please note the ideal sealed box volume and let me know if you come up with a similar volume. Also the cabinet size I came up with for this is 10"x10"x3.5" . This depth will not fit the driver. It seems very small to me. Any input appreciated thanks.

Sensitivity = 89 dB 2.83 V @ 1 meter
Power = 100 watt

Cabinet hole = 165 mm
Basket Diameter = 200 mm
Mounting depth = 90 mm

Optimum Sealed box 0 0.15 cubic foot
-3 dB = 111 Hz

Optimum Vented Box = 0.21 cubic foot
-3dB = 78 Hz
Vent = 61 Hz
Tube = 3 inch diameter x 20 inch

Extended bass shelf = 0.50 cubic foot
-3dB = 56 Hz
Vent = 54 Hz
Tube = 3 inch diameter x 10 inch

Obviously you can't build something that is not realistic.
I have simmed a couple of solutions so you can see what
it means when one changes the volume of the box. The
smaller it gets, the more pressure you get at certain
frequencies and the higher the -3dB point. You can get
better - 3db data in a ported box.

I used to spend countless days designing boxes for this project on WINISD pro alpha before I got a MAC computer. Now I can't run it. So I used on line calculators, and I got wierd results.


Can anyone tell me a good box design software for MAC OS ?

I just saw on SpeakerBuilding.com - Software MacSpeaker 1.6

Maybe you could emulate win environment or install win separately.
