Enjoyed today...fitting the pristine Tannoy Monitor Reds. Initially, had a glitch with a hook up wire...but removed driver and tested...all good.
On hand, Weston Acoustics 2A3 SET, Leak 20 watt Class A, and a small digital amp. The sound was very good...more laid back to the big Altecs I have...but very balanced and detailed. You could listen to these all day, easy. The cabinet seems to be working well with the bass...not humps, chuffing etc. Bass depth is good, even with SET amp. Euro birch ply used, with lovely Sydney Blue Gum veneer. 150 liter internal volume, sturdy bracing added. Need to build the plinths and add front trim, then ship off for two pack poly gloss spray. A busy but enjoyable weekend.... |
