I did some searching and haven't found anything similar to what I want to do. Basically I'm building two mtm towers and want vent the midranges out the back of the box through sono tube or PVC simulating an open back dipole. I'm using 2 Eminence beta 8a's for the mids crossed over at 300 low and 2400 high. I've never built dipoles before so my concern is how this would sound compared to a true dipole and if its worth trying.
Thanks Paul

Thanks guys, I wrote that at 3am so I wasn't sure if my desctiption was a little vague. I didn't know if having the midrange isolated in it's own enclosure (sono tube) and exit out the back would have adverse effects like MisterTwister stated. I had thought about a flat baffle, but I need the extra cu/ft for the sub. Total volume is 6 cu/ft minus what ever volume enclosure is needed for the mids and tweets.

Face here is the specs for the Beta 8's

I chose 2400 becuase it crosses good with the tweetes I have. Morel CAT378

I'm using two tweeters per box in parallel to match the 4 ohm load from the midranges. The crossover is a 2nd order Linkwitz.
